Frequently Asked Questions

  • What do I need to do to book my trip?

    • All of our trips are booked online through our booking software or by calling our office at (828) 691-1506. This allows our friendly office staff to schedule the type of trip that you want. After you have spoken to our office staff you will provide them with a credit card to pay for the the trip, which acts as the deposit. You will then be sent a confirmation email, stating your trip date and other information regarding your trip.
  • What type of fishing license do I need?

    • All of our guided wade trips and float trips are held in North Carolina. This allows you to quickly get on the water and start catching fish. Rather than spending windshield time with your guide. You will need a North Carolina fishing license for all wade trips and float trips. To purchase license click HERE.
  • What do I need to bring on my trip?

    • The only item necessary to go on one of our Asheville fishing trips is a NC fishing license. Your licensed fishing guide will provide all tackle, fishing rods, line, leader, tippet, flies, lures etc. It is recommended that you bring sunglasses, a hat, socks, change of clothes, sunscreen, and a rain jacket. Check out our Pre-Trip Planner for more information!
  • How much should I tip my guide?

    • An appropriate tip for your guided fishing trip is 20-30% of your total trip cost. As with most businesses in the service industry, we strive to excel at being the best guided fishing service in the Asheville, area and even more so in the Southeast. Our guides are screened to be professional, and are thankful for your gratuity. You will not find a guide on our team that is not professional and courteous.
  • What happens if it rains on my trip?

    • Our guide service is a rain or shine business. While it may seem like a bummer to fish in the rain, these are the days that offer the best fish catches. Fish prefer overcast weather and usually leave their hiding spots to roam for forage. Check out our annual Asheville forecast and when the best time to book is!
  • Do You Offer Transportation/Pick-Up Services?

    • *For walk and wade trips only* We offer full service transportation from downtown Asheville, North Asheville, Weaverville, Mars Hill and other townships in the greater Asheville area. We do not offer transportation for float trips since guides will need another vehicle to run their shuttle when the trip is finished. Contact us to see if your lodging is in the full-service transportation zone.
  • What Type of Fish Do You Catch?

    • We target three species year-round. Smallmouth, Trout, and Musky. Every trip is tailored to catching only one species. So if you are looking to catch trout, that will be the only species of fish that you will catch on that trip. Same for smallmouth and musky.
  • Can I keep the fish I catch?

    • While we wish we could say yes, we will kindly say no. We are 100% catch and release and practice conservation efforts year round.
  • Do you do trips for novice or kids?

    • Absolutely. We love teaching the art of fly fishing and take great joy in teaching kids as well. There is no better feeling than watching kids catch their first fish on a fly rod or a spinning rod. All of our guides are professional fly fishing instructors and have been teaching for over 20 years.
