WNC River Conservation

Southern Appalachian Anglers is dedicated to keeping our rivers and lakes in Western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee clean. Our volunteer clean up initiative was created in 2012 to improve ecosystems in and around our waterways. Our efforts are focused on many of the rivers and lakes we guide on. With most of our time spent on the water guiding in remote areas, we tend to see most of the trash that gets washed away. We focus our river clean ups in a number of different counties from Buncombe, Madison, Yancey, Mitchell, and Watauga County.

The focus of our initiative is to unite anglers, and landowners, in an effort to conserve the cleanliness of the environment and waterways in the Southern Appalachian Mountains.  We hold a number of different river cleanups every year. Most of our clean ups occur after a substantial rain because of the high volume of trash that tends to surface when the water rises.
